Description

China Rose 'Mutabilis' changes colour as it blooms, for an ever-shifting palette of yellow, pink and crimson that evolves throughout the summer months. The name means 'changeable', and it couldn't be more fitting.

Single, butterfly-like blooms open in shades of apricot-yellow, gradually deepening to rose pink and finally to rich red before falling. Often, you'll see multiple colours together on one plant, for a painterly effect. Each bloom is around 6cm across.

Part of the China Rose family, this variety is prized for its long flowering season and easy-going nature. It repeats its display from early summer right through to autumn, while the stems are almost thornless, so it's a pleasure to prune and shape. 'Mutabilis' can be trained as a climber up to around 2m tall, or grown as a wispy shrub in the border.

Recognised by the RHS with the Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding performance, and crowned a 'Plant for Pollinators', with open flowers that draw bees and butterflies.

Supplied as a bare root rose, ready to plant.
