The Captain Tom Charity Rose
Every rose sold donates £2.50 to The Captain Tom Foundation
The stunning new red rose variety from World of Roses, one of the largest growers of premium British roses in Europe, has been named after the national treasure and war veteran, Captain Sir Tom. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit in March 2020, Captain Tom hoped to walk 100 laps of his Bedfordshire garden before his 100th birthday, with a goal of raising £1000 for the NHS Covid-19 appeal. What happened next was totally unexpected. By his hundredth birthday, he had inspired an entire nation, been referred to as a beacon of hope, and had raised £38.9 million for the NHS!
The family continued to receive scores of messages of support and encouragement and it quickly became clear they could go on helping many more people. The Captain Tom Foundation has been set up to continue to inspire people and ensure Tom’s message of hope becomes an enduring legacy. Funds raised by the Foundation are used to support causes close to Captain Tom and the families heart; including combating loneliness, supporting those facing bereavement, and championing education and equality.
