Short description

RED

Ideal for beds and borders, this repeat flowering rose produces larg beautiful fragrant blooms on attractive foliage from May to September.

  • Height & Spread - 100cm x 60cm.
  • Position - Will thrive in most well drained soils on an open sunny site.
  • Planting - Water thoroughly or stand container in water for an hour before planting.
  • Dig a hole twice the size of the pot, mix compost and fertiliser with the soil from the hole, remove pot, place plant in the hole so that the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil, back fill and firm down to prevent air pockets.
  • Watering - Water well after planting and for the first growing season.
  • Aftercare - Roses benefit from a mulch of organic material, around the base of the plant after planting. Mulching keeps in moisture, prevents weeds and adds nutrients to the soil.
  • Dead Heading - Remove spent flowers after flowering, this will encourage repeat flowering.
  • Pruning - Lightly prune in autumn to prevent wind rock over winter. In spring prune down to good, strong, outward facing buds to produce an open wine glass shaped frame. This will allow good light and air movement into and around the plant.
  • Feeding - Feed in spring after pruning and again in midsummer, with a general rose fertiliser.

Michaels Limited is an independent, registered Homeless Charity and was established in 1992 and was awarded The Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2017. The Charity pioneered the first Night Shelter in Dorset (which opened its doors for a decade) and in 2000, the Charity opened Michael House, a 25 bed (dog-friendly) hostel, based in the heart of Boscombe. In 2008 Michaels purchased the neighbouring building ‘Drummond Wolff House’ to create an 8 bed move-on pathway for our residents.

We run regular in-house volunteer lead workshops to increase confidence and self-esteem, resulting exceptional levels of resident engagement (education, training, voluntary work and employment).

The residents have also transformed their back garden into an award-winning conservation project, have achieved first place in Dorset Wildlife Trust’s ‘Wildlife Friendly Gardening Competition’ using recyclable materials and donations of plants and cuttings from our friends and supporters.
